I am a member of Street Smart Careers, a community of students working to break into finance. I mentor peers through the fundamentals of accounting and valuation, hold people to the deadlines they set for themselves, and pass along openings and information as quickly as I come across them.

Finance was not where I started, and most of what I know came from people who were willing to share what they knew. I try to do the same for the people around me. Teaching is also the most reliable way I have found to test my own understanding. Every gap shows up the moment someone asks a second question.

Street Smart Careers is also the part of my application to Recalc Academy’s Finance Accelerator that I feel most sure about. The Accelerator is built on technical training, mentorship and community. Peer mentorship is something I already have experience in. I help other students with the basics of accounting and valuation regularly, and that is the same sense of community I would bring to Recalc.
